The item listed is an O.E.M. dual solenoid valve manufactured by Whirlpool for Amana and some Kenmore models. The listing is THE EXACT OEM replacement introductory valve and no 'retrofitting' will be needed. 

This valve is for  water and ice service ice maker systems THAT HAVE WATER FILTERS EMBEDDED IN THE REFRIGERATOR BY MANUFACTURER DESIGN and is part of a two valve system. This is commonly called the secondary  valve which receives supply direct from the embedded filter and sends to the chilled water dispenser and ice maker. Many call and ask how do you know when either valve is bad? I have never bothered to go that far in replacing these locally, and have always made a practice of replacing this and it's counterpart 12544001 at the same time. I would recommend the same for my online customers and will not offer additional troubleshooting help for this system other than what is offered atop the site for water intake issues etc.
